Principal's Message

Principal's Message

Dear Patriots,
I would like to welcome our new families to John Adams Elementary School, and welcome back many of our students and families that have been Patriots in the past!  As a new Patriot this year, I am excited to embark on a fabulous school year full of building our student’s social emotional wellbeing and their academics.

As your new principal, I would like to take a moment to introduce myself.  I have been in education for 20 years, 18 of which have been in CNUSD, where I have filled many roles: teacher, teacher on special assignment, and assistant principal.  In all capacities as an educator, my goal has always been to leave a lasting impact on the community I serve.  I look forward to the year ahead and can’t wait to meet our Patriot families!

Full Day Kinder

We are excited for a new school year, which will include full-day kindergarten! Our Kinder students will be on a modified schedule the first 10 days of school, beginning at 8:45 and dismissing at 12:32.  Starting August 23rd, they will begin their full day schedule from 8:45-2:57.

Supporting Your Child
We appreciate your support as we strive to deliver instruction at high levels of rigor for every student. We believe that the research is true - when schools and parents partner in students’ learning, students are successful. We ask for your support in the following ways:

» Reading to or with your child every day.  Long after children learn to read for themselves, they love this special time with you.  Kids who are read to are the kids who want to read and learn on their own.

» Joining our parent-teacher organization (PTA).  When parents and teachers work together, schools improve. We want to partner with you.

» Volunteering your time. The more help parents give, the more time teachers can spend with students. Work full-time? There are still ways to help.

- Ask your child’s teacher what you can do.

- Join our School Site Council where we will meet 4 times over Zoom to review our budget.

» Letting your children know school is important.  Ask about their homework. Attend school events. Talk about how you use what you learned in school in your job.

» Recognize your child’s special gifts. Each child has special talents. Perhaps the most important thing you can do is to get to know your child and help your child see how he or she is special. Ask questions and listen to your child,  boosting confidence and setting the stage for learning.

» Emphasize the PRIDE characteristics & expectations. When kids know what is expected they know how to act.

Prepare for the New School Year

» Log in to Parent Connect to find our your child’s teacher on or after August 3, 2022. To do this, log in to Parent Connect and go to the Schedule section to view your child’s teacher.

» Establish a place for learning in your home.  Make sure they know how to transfer materials from this space into backpacks and/or folders to be ready to go for learning the next morning. Make sure your child has a space to charge their device every night in preparation for the next day.

» School-home communication is highly encouraged.  If you have a question, call the school. If you wish to discuss a matter with the teacher or principal, we will arrange a time with you. Your child and your child’s progress is important to us.

» Noon Supervisor
positions will be available this school year, if you would like to become a part of your child’s day. Please go to Edjoin to learn more and apply if you are interested.

Sincerely,
Andrea Kea, Principal
